In our continuing quest to find new ways to help our clients reach out to potential customers, we built an online shopping platform called DealHero.my. The website is basically an online shopping deals aggregator for consumers to find the latest online deals, discounts and coupon codes for Malaysian online stores in one place. In addition, it also works as a sorta local e-commerce merchant directory for Malaysians to discover new stores, and read store reviews.
For the merchants, they get to promote their store or latest offer on the website, through DealHero.my’s newsletters and the Facebook page. We’re currently working with several merchants to offer exclusive deals for our website visitors to get things going. So far, we’ve accumulated close to 10,000 Facebook fans and registered users since we launched almost 5 weeks ago. On the other hand, the participating merchants have been getting sales and new member sign-ups through their campaigns on our website.
These merchants included Rakuten, iPmart, NoQ Store, Luxola, ChristyNg.com, Hermo, Soukai and Food Panda.
It took our new development team of 3 people about a month to code the website. We were just aiming to launch with a minimum viable product to see if we could gain any traction – the marketing channels used are Facebook and Google. We are continuosly split-testing with different designs and adding/removing stuff as we try to find a product/market fit. Hence, this is an interesting project because we are basically operating like a startup.
Will it work? We don’t know. But with even the government trying to promote online shopping, via MDEC’s MyCyberSale initiative, I’d say that the potential is not that bad.
So do you like shopping online? Remember to visit DealHero.my to check out the latest deals!
